TEACHABLE AGENTS: PLANETARY RESCUE

Middle School Students Learn Scientific Reasoning by Teaching a Computer Agent

Students teach their agents about climate change and then watch their agents reason about what they have been taught to solve challenges and rescue distant planets. See the research behind teachable agents.

Who Should Play?

The game is designed for middle school students (grades 6-8), and targets several Next Generation Science Standards concepts and practices, focusing on causal reasoning. See how it fits into the curriculum.

Students can play the game on their own (approximately 90 minutes to complete), with their parents, or integrated with classroom instruction about global warming and climate change. A teacher/parent guide provides support and flexible lesson plans ranging from 2-5 days.
